It has come to my attention that we do have another late night coffee option in Tacoma! The One Heart Cafe located next to the Grand Cinema is open most nights until 1:30 AM. This is the spot of the old Kickstand Cafe, although the interior is completely different. They have an impressive array of couches in the back room. I have to say beware if you are planning on working at the One Heart Cafe because those couches are an invitation to slothfulness.
Some of us may be familiar with One Heart Cafe’s other location 1117 Broadway Ave. If so you will feel at home in the new location. The walls are covered with an impressive array of art work.
Thanks go out to Michael Pierce for pointing out the new location and hours.

I sympathize with downtown business owners but ending free Tacoma Link service is a really bad idea.

I lived a year in Charleston, SC. It was during my first year of service with the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps. I loved swimming at Folly Beach, eating at Jestine’s Kitchen, concerts at the Music Farm, the isolation of living on the decommissioned Charleston Naval Base and soul food restaurants run by Chinese immigrants. I still have a friend on Wadmalaw Island. I need to go back there, soon. Too bad all of the employment in in travel and tourism or healthcare.

Things appear to have stabilized concerning WiFi on the Sounder. Sound Transit has put a page on their site concerning the “Expanded WiFi Project.” The web site states “Sounder cars with 100, 300 and 400 series numbers are equipped.” The connection varies depending upon the connection available and the activities of your laptop toting neighbors. Sound Transit discourages the use of streaming audio or video. Remember to sit in the first car.
